Stained Glass Kaleidoscopes, "Helios" # 5 of 6 By Artist Charles Karadimos. Helios = The personification of the Sun in Greek mythology
The unique bottle shaped exterior is slumped white glass with a multi-layered, fused, dichroic, sun-shaped design on one side. Perfect 12-point images are produced by the tapered two-mirror system.
The dry object cell contains all custom selected glass in order to create incredibly random and intricate images. Included are dry-filled ampules plus lampworked, cut, and melted glass.
Charles has captured in my opinion the brightness and wow of the Sun and all its wonders in this particular Helios series.
Charles has devoted his career to kaleidoscopes since 1980 to his kaleidoscope work. He prides himself in building all parts of the kaleidoscope. There are no machined parts used in the making of his kaleidoscopes. We especially love and appreciate his skill and detail taken in lampworking special parts for his object cells. Always a hint of Black is used in the cells the black gives a framework and some structure to his images. Many of his images remind me of fantastic Rose window http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_windows Stained glass Images of the great Churches of Europe Like Chartres Cathedral in France. Charles Karadimos is recognized worldwide as a top Kaleidoscope artist.
