Flowers, gift baskets, gift cards, sweaters, socks, ties and novelties are the usual standby when holidays like Mother's and Father's Day and even Valentine's Day roll around. It's not that mom doesn't appreciate her flower arrangement and dad doesn't need a tie. They do, but not a whole lot of thought goes into those types of gifts.
